Start with the right evaluation

A change in your nails deserves a closer look.

Discoloration, thickening or changes in nail texture can have more than one cause. A photograph alone may not provide enough information to determine the right treatment.

Dr. Roth reviews your history and concerns to decide whether remote care is appropriate. Testing, additional records or an in-person examination may be recommended before treatment begins.

01 · MEDICAL REVIEW

Your health comes first.

Your medical history, current medications and prior antifungal treatment help guide the plan. Let Dr. Roth know about any liver or kidney problems and provide requested records through the designated intake process.

02 · NAIL & FOOT CARE

A routine you can follow.

Your care plan may combine nail treatment with supportive foot care. Dr. Roth will explain which products to use and whether professional nail care or an office visit would be helpful.

03 · TREATMENT OPTIONS

Selected for your needs.

Topical products and oral prescription medication may be considered as part of your plan. Medication choice, dose, laboratory testing and precautions are determined individually.

04 · FOLLOW-THROUGH

Care continues at home.

Follow your personalized instructions and recommended follow-up schedule. Nail growth takes time, and your progress may lead to adjustments in your treatment plan.

When office care is needed

An in-person option, too.

Some nail concerns benefit from an office examination, nail sampling or professional nail care. Dr. Roth can discuss whether office-based treatment, including laser treatment, is an option for your situation.

The at-home starter package and an office-based treatment program are separate options. An office treatment schedule and its costs should be confirmed with the practice.

Before you begin

A few helpful answers.

Are all thick or discolored nails caused by fungus?

No. Several conditions can change the appearance of a nail. Your evaluation helps determine whether antifungal treatment is appropriate or whether another assessment is needed.

Will everyone receive oral medication?

No. Dr. Roth considers your history, other medications and any relevant test results before prescribing. Additional information or coordination with your treating physician may be needed.

Does a lower medication dose mean I can skip blood tests?

No. Do not assume that a lower dose removes the need for testing or other precautions. Dr. Roth determines the monitoring appropriate to your medication and health history. Ask your prescriber or pharmacist about medication interactions and alcohol.

Is laser treatment included in the starter kit?

No. The starter kit is for the at-home program. Any office-based laser treatment is discussed and arranged separately with the practice.

How soon will I see a change?

Toenails grow slowly, and visible changes can take months. Your timeline depends on the condition being treated, the extent of nail involvement and your response to care. A cure or specific appearance cannot be guaranteed.

What if I only need more paste, tape or spray?

Contact the practice to discuss which supplies you need and their current availability and refill pricing. Medication refills require appropriate clinical review.

Where do I find my treatment instructions?

Existing patients should use the Home Treatment Guide and individualized instructions supplied by the practice. If you need access or are unsure about a step, call 949-650-1147 before changing your routine.
